Diane speaks in historical debate in first speech as Shadow Minister

14 Oct 2010

Diane will make her first appearance on the front benches as Shadow Minister for Public Health today in an historical debate about tainted blood.

Diane will represent the health department in the three hour debate in the House of Commons chamber.

The debate has been brought by several MPs, campaigners, patients and families affected by contaminated blood products in the 1970s and 1980s, and is the first full debate on the topic in 25 years.

Diane said:

“I am pleased to be able to begin my Shadow ministerial career with such an important debate.

The issue surrounding contaminated blood products is one which is incredibly important and has ongoing issues for not only sufferers, but their families and dependents.

I look forward to taking part in the debate and working towards a conclusion.”
