Diane condemns Lib Con cap on benefits saying it will create ‘inner city ghettos’

05 Oct 2010

Diane has condemned the cap on benefits announced by the Tory Chancellor George Osborne.

The Lib Cons will cap the maximum a family can receive, which will see 50,000 families penalised by an average of £93 a week.

Diane said with housing benefit making up the bulk of handouts to recipients in wealthier areas, it would result in the poor being squeezed out.

Diane said:

"I think this is appalling. It’s like a form of social cleansing. The poor will be forced out of affluent areas, creating inner city ghettos."
