Supporting Civil Liberties in Tibet
11 Mar 2009
On the 50th anniversary of the Tibetan National Uprising, Hackney North and Stoke Newington MP Diane Abbott met with constituents to hear their views on the situation in Tibet.
Speaking after the meeting Diane said:
“It was good to see so many interested people lobbying their MPs on the anniversary of the Tibetan National Uprising. Tibetan people must have the right to live free of the fear of imprisonment or torture. They must have the right to practice their own religion and to peacefully support the Dalai Lama and protest. I will be signing EDM 978 in support of the rights of the Tibetan people.”
