Greek Riots Continue
Thirteen MPs have signed a motion in the House of Commons expressing concern at the shooting of Greek teenager Alexandros Grigoropoulos at the hands of Greek police.
The Early Day Motion, tabled by Hackney North and Stoke Newington MP Diane Abbott, conveys regret at the riots that have followed the shooting on the 6th December and says that MPs hope the situation in Greece will be stabilised.
Explaining the EDM Diane Abbott said:
“It is a tragedy that this innocent 15 year-old was shot dead by police and I am glad that action is being taken against those responsible. It is vital that citizens have trust in their police force to protect them. However, the violence taking place in Greece at the moment cannot be condoned. My colleagues and I hope that stability can be restored for the citizens of Greece.”
