Stoke Newington Kids Quiz Diane

20 Oct 2007

School children from Stoke Newington School quizzed Diane Abbott MP on Thursday as part of a school trip to the Houses of Parliament.

The children were given the opportunity to ask pressing political questions to their MP during a trip to Parliament which also included a tour of the Palace of Westminster. Diane talked to the children about life in Parliament and what it is like to work as an MP. The talk included personal details about juggling motherhood and a high-powered career. Then the floor was opened to the youngsters who weren’t shy about asking Diane some tricky political questions. Some focused on international issues like the War in Iraq and the humanitarian situation in Somalia whilst others were interested to learn about gun crime, MPs’ expenses and academy schools in Hackney.
