Diane Visits Schoolfriend Club at Grazebrook School

13 Jun 2007

MP for Hackney North and Stoke Newington Diane Abbott paid a visit to the Schoolfriend Club at Grazebrook Primary School on Friday to see the work that is being done on the childcare programme.

The Club provides childcare and support for families, including delivering breakfasts, and after-school and holiday clubs. It has been running from Grazebrook School since 2005 and has gone from strength to strength.

Diane said:

”I was very impressed with the way the club works. It is providing a much needed and valuable service to the local community, benefiting both parents and pupils. The activities taking place were varied and were certainly motivating the children. Not only do they ensure that the children have fun, but they also help them to improve their literacy and numeracy.”

The Schoolfriend etc initiative is a nation-wide service that helps working parents gain access affordable childcare. It’s an important part of meeting government targets to ensure after-school care is available for all children.
