Tyssen School Children's Centre Opening
MP for Hackney North and Stoke Newington Diane Abbott today lent her support to Tyssen primary school in Stamford Hill by attending the official opening of the new Children’s Centre located there.
Diane was joined by Baroness Amos and many other prominent members of the community, including representatives from the Jewish and Muslim faiths and The Learning Trust. The various guests were given a guided tour of the new facilities and the chance to meet with staff and students at the school and new Children’s Centre.
The construction of the Centre was completed in October with the playground being completed at Christmas and it has already begun admitting children. It is part of a government initiative that aims to provide improved, integrated childcare, education and support for families. The Centre has places for over sixty children aged between 6 months and 5 years old. There are three different rooms within the Centre catering for babies, toddlers and young children. The Centre also caters for the Jewish community in Stamford Hill through the inclusion of a separate milk kitchen. However it is hoped that the children and families attending the Centre will be from a wide range of backgrounds.
Diane and the other guests expressed their positive impression of the Centre. Diane said: “I think these are fantastic facilities. The garden is a lovely area for young children to play and will give those children who do not usually have access to outdoor areas an opportunity to spend time in a pleasant and stimulating environment. The staff here have worked incredibly hard towards making this Centre happen and the quality of the facilities is a testament to their dedication. I am greatly looking forward to watching the Centre grow and thrive over the coming months and years.”
The Children’s Centre at Tyssen school is now welcoming new nursery-age children. Contact the school office for more details.
