Fourth Boris Advisor Quits

09 Dec 2008

David Ross – who yesterday was forced to stand down from his position as director of Carphone Warehouse – said he must now devote his full attention to his private business interests. Ross had been sitting on the board of the London Organising Committee of the Olympics and was the Chair of the Legacy Board of Advisors. He was Boris Johnson’s representative to the various Olympic committees.

Speaking after the news emerged today Diane Abbott said:

“The resignation of David Ross comes at a time when we are at a crucial stage of working out what the legacy of the 2012 Olympics will be. It is very concerning that the main link between the Mayor and the Olympic organisers has now gone. I hope that the Mayor will be able to recruit a suitably competent replacement before too much damage is done from having lost that link.

There are of course pressing questions to be asked about why it is that in Boris Johnson’s first 7 months as Mayor of London he has managed to lose 4 of his key aides.”
