Alzheimers Awareness Week
Diane Abbott said: “I am very happy to be supporting the Alzheimer’s Society during Alzheimer’s Awareness Week. When we think of dementia we usually think of older people and it is important to remember that dementia can affect anyone at any age. More than 615 people living in Hackney North and Stoke Newington have dementia and more than three times that number are affected by the consequences.”
She added: “It is also important to continue to raise awareness of these issues throughout the year and help in whichever way we can to support younger as well as older people with dementia.”
Neil Hunt, chief executive of the Alzheimer’s Society said, “I’m delighted that Abbott is supporting Alzheimer’s Awareness Week. The week will invite us to think again about how we should be supporting younger people with dementia and their families.”
