NHS needs greater transparency on all of private sector
21 Sep 2016
Diane Abbott MP, Labour’s Shadow Secretary of State for Health, speaking in response to an NHS England report on greater transparency of consultants’ private sector pay and payments from drug companies, said,“Making this information public is long overdue, but I welcome the move to improve transparency.
“Theresa May and other Cabinet members have been in government for 6 years. They presided over an enormous increase in wasteful private sector involvement in the NHS.
“This new transparency should be extended. The government should publish in full how much the private sector is siphoning from the NHS, including via their own new Sustainability and Transformation Plans.”
