This crisis in social care is a direct result of Tory cuts to local authorities

Diane Abbott, Labour’s Shadow Secretary of State for Health, speaking in response to a report from the King’s Fund and Nuffield Trust on the crisis in elderly care, said,“This report confirms that after six years Tory cuts, our social care system is in crisis, putting elderly people at risk.
”This crisis in social care is a direct result of Tory cuts to local authorities.
“This is a false economy. Good social care is far less costly than a hospital stay. Thousands of elderly people are trapped on hospital wards with nowhere to go as a result of these cuts.
”The Government must reverse these hugely damaging cuts and give the elderly the care they deserve.”
