Diabetes not being tackled sufficiently

06 Sep 2016
Diane Abbott MP, Labours Shadow Health Secretary, responding to the CQC report, ‘My Diabetes, my care’, said:“These findings are very worrying. Diabetes is a public health crisis and the Government isn’t tackling it.
“Diabetes can kill. It costs enormous sums to the NHS when left unchecked. More people are not offered any help than those who receive treatment.
“We should be particularly concerned at the lack of diagnosis and treatment for people from BAME communities. Those with learning disabilities also disproportionately suffer and miss out on treatment.” “The Government’s Diabetes strategy is simply not working.”
