Top Health Minister Visits Hackney

06 Jul 2005

Diane Abbott, the Secretary of State for Health, and the General Secretary of Nurses toured a number of the Hospital wards including the children’s ward. The visit ended with a question and answer session with the staff members of the hospital.

Diane Abbott said: "Homerton Hospital is an excellent hospital.  I myself had my son there thirteen years ago and I well remember the wonderful care I received from the nurses, midwives, and other staff at the hospital. Since then my labour government has invested millions of pounds into Homerton Hospital and it is now a three star show piece hospital.  "

She added:  “After speaking with the staff members of the hospital I am confident in the care that Homerton Hospital provides to its patients.  I am proud of the Homerton Hospital and the great service it provides my constituents in Hackney.”
