Domestic Violence Protection Orders

06 Nov 2014
Ms Diane Abbott MP

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, how many domestic violence prevention orders have been served since March 2014 in (a) Hackney North and Stoke Newington, (b) Hackney local authority area, (c) London and (d) England.

Lynne Featherstone Answered on 11 November 2014

The Home Office does not hold the information requested. Individual police forces are responsible for collecting information relating to the Domestic Violence Protection Orders (DVPOs).

The Government has committed to assessing the effectiveness of DVPOs in the new year. In addition, as part of our commitment arising from the report published in March 2014 by Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary "Everyone’s business: Improving the police response to domestic abuse", the Home Office is developing national data standards to ensure that consistent and comparable data on domestic abuse are collected by the police and submitted as part of the Annual Data Return.
