Serious crime should be recorded and investigated, not ignored

19 Sep 2019
Speaking in response to reports that the Home Office is covering up crimes of identity theft, Labour’s Shadow Home Secretary Diane Abbott MP said:

“There is no justification for this cover-up. It arises because of the Tory cuts to police, cuts which this Cabinet never once voted against. The public have a right to expect that serious crime will be recorded and investigated, not ignored.

“Labour will recruit thousands of extra police and invest in the resources police need to tackle serious crime.”
