Police officers are clearly over-stretched and over-worked – Diane Abbott
10 Jul 2019
Diane Abbott MP, Labour’s Shadow Home Secretary, responding to an ONS report conducted Home Office’s Front Line review which found police officers to be depressed and under ‘constant pressure’, said:
“The survey shows police officers are clearly over-stretched and over-worked. Worse, in too many cases they are taking on the responsibility for low detection rates for crime themselves when they are the direct consequence of Tory cuts to police funding and to police numbers.
“Tory cuts undermine morale and undermine good policing and show you can’t have safety and security on the cheap. Labour will recruit thousands of extra police to alleviate this crisis and tackle rising serious crime.”
