17 Jul 2019
Diane Abbott MP, Labour’s Shadow Home Secretary, responding to a call by the Public Accounts Committee to the Home Office to draw up a “plan B” over the Emergency Services Network communication system, which is currently £3.1bn over budget and over three years late, said:
“It is appalling that at a time when Tory cuts are already undermining our police and other emergency services, the government has gone further and wasted billions of pounds in taxpayers’ money through their sheer incompetence and mismanagement.”
