Government immigration policy is still unfair, unworkable, and ignoring the economy

25 Sep 2018
“The Tories are still failing to provide a workable and fair immigration policy, and they are ignoring the needs of the UK’s economy. Keeping out vital social care workers and others because they are low-paid is economically damaging, and business have strongly criticised this policy.

“The Government is also wrong on what it calls ‘special treatment’ of EU workers. The clear threat is that the Tories will treat everyone as badly as they have treated the Windrush generation.

Labour in government will treat everyone who comes here fairly and equally. Our post-Brexit work visa scheme will be dictated by the needs of our economy, not arbitrary targets. And our post-Brexit immigration policy will include the trade deals that we sign with the EU and other countries.”
